Ulta Glam Goth Nail Polish Collection

I just saw this Glam Goth set at Ulta this weekend and I had to get it. In the Ulta that I go to, it was next to the register, I almost didn't see it when I was there!  I really like dark nail polish colors because to me, they can sophisticated yet still edgy in their own various ways.  I like a kind of "goth" sophistication without all of the kiddie influence that an alternative style can have.

Here is what the brush looks like.  Even though it is stout, I found it pretty easy to use.  I like mini nail polish collections because I rarely use an entire bottle of nail polish before it goes bad.

Underground - A dark black with blue shimmer.  There are a lot of colors like this so there is nothing special about it but it is a nice color.

Tainted Love - I am reading that many people like this color.  It is green with gold glitter, quite lovely.  I have also read that it is a near dupe for Sally Hansen's Project Runway so if you missed that or liked that, pick this up.  Personally, I have found that that a lot of greens are hard for me to wear, they end up looking too yellow with my skin.  So a deep forest green is nice to see.

Black Lace - I think this should have a different name, it doesn't seem to fit this kind of nail polish.  A nice deep grey creme, rich and saturated looking.  I think I will wear this regularly.

For Bitten - pink/magenta and orange glitter in a black base.  I love this color and I think it mixes an edgy/sophisticated color with a touch of fun that isn't too bright or too over the top (for when you want to be more subdued in your "alternativeness."  This is my personal favorite color out of this collection.

After Hours - a purple with some shimmer in it.  A nice, normal purple that really doesn't have anything too special or unique about it but still a nice purple.  I think this purple would be cooler if the purple shimmer didn't match it so much and it sparked more than it does.

L.A. Girl Black Light Nail Polish in 'Groovy'

A rich purple/fuschia creme that is vibrant and bright.  Perfect for Spring/Summer 2010.

I love this L.A. Girl nail polish.  However, I hate the name.  I wish it was named something much more futuristic and cool sounding because then it would match how I feel when I wear it.

Urban Decay 'White Widow' Nail Polish Swatch & Review

This is Urban Decay's new polish, 'White Widow.'  I think that the color of this polish is really hard to accurately capture.  It's like a white creme/slight shimmer with a touch of purple and a touch of mushroom/brown color.  In a dimly lit place, I really pick up a slight purple color when I look at it. 

I like it and I don't like it at the same time.  This was three coats and I have to say out of all the Urban Decay polishes I have tried so far, I am most dissappointed with this one.  It applied with streaks and was hard to control.  I don't think this color works too well on my skintone so I don't think I will be reaching for it in the future.

Eyeko 'Vamp Polish' Review

A beautiful deep blue-black nail polish.

This is the second Eyeko nail polish that I have. The application on this polish is much better than the application was for 'Pretty Polish,' which you can read about below. As you can see, it is a rich, deep blue-black creme color. This is two coats with Seche Vite as a topcoat. Drying time was normal and this photo was taken after a day of wear.

*Pros - rich, creamy color. Average drying time and wear seems good for this polish. Super cute bottle, one I wouldn't be ashamed to display!

*Cons - Be careful with these bottles, they have a wide mouth to them and it would be easy to seal the lid shut if you get to much polish on the rim. Check before you screw on the lid.

Eyeko 'Pretty Polish' Review

Eyeko 'Pretty Polish' is a soft pink pastel color. I think that the color is super cute but the application was horrible. I had read that this would probably happen (on Scangie). But I thought, maybe, just maybe it would be different for me. Love the color, HATE the application, drying time and way that it dents easily for hours after applying it.

*Pros - lovely, feminine creme color. Perfect for people that are into light, non-threatening colors. Also has the cutest bottle design! Be sure to check them out!

*Cons - sheer, streaky application, this is with five coats - that's too many for the kind of lady that I am. This color takes forever to dry and it dented easily for be for about a whole day after I first applied it. It never seemed to completely dry.

I am going to review the other polish that I got, 'Vamp Polish,' tomorrow. I am hoping I will like it better because Eyeko seems to have some super cute things. They also offer free shipping on all orders which I think is fantastic!

And read on for my thoughts about this color:

Color: A lilac/light purple creme, can appear somewhat grey in poor lighting conditions.
Application: Smooth, opaque after two coats, might want to do three just to make sure. This is two here that I did, with Seche Vite as a top coat.

Opinion: Overall, a lovely color. Perfect for a slight hint of color but nothing over the top. Very subdued looking. I think it could be considered a nice Spring color, but I also think that is too cliche. I think it would be better to wear this at a time when no one else is wearing colors like it. I also think that since this is a very 'safe' color, it would be great to do designs on top of it. I'd like to do something in black to contrast against the pale lilac.
