I went and saw Angelspit at Chain Reaction in Anaheim, CA last night.

Happily, I got to meet Amelia Arsenic after the show and spent a few minutes chatting with her. She was very warm and and friendly, it was wonderful to meet her. I couldn't stop staring at her makeup, so expertly applied and blended - she does great work!

For those curious, she's wearing Illamasqua nail polish in Radium. I also got to show her that I was wearing my shirt from her A is for Arsenic line, something that I was excited about since it's not everyday you get to meet the designer of the clothes you wear. Thanks to Amelia for being inspiring, down to earth and unique!

Trader Joe's Honey Mango Moisturizing Cream Shave [review]

I just tried this shave cream at the recommendation of a coworker. Shaving cream isn't one of those things that I love to buy and I often will just use hair conditioner as an aid when shaving. Nonetheless, when I was at Trader Joe's the other day, the fact that this shave cream was honey mango scented caught my attention. The price will vary most likely from store to store, but you can get this shave cream for pretty cheap! I think I picked mine up from my local store for $3.99. I was sold!

Pros:

reasonably priced, probably varies from store to store
lightly scented, not overpowering
moisturizing
allowed for a smooth/close shave, my razor moved along easily
contains aloe vera and vitamin E (great for the skin!)
vegetarian, cruelty free and paraben free

Cons:

I don't like bottles that are designed like this in the shower. Water collects in the cap and it gets all gross after awhile. If this was an upright container, that would be awesome.
Hard to acquire for people that don't live near a Trader Joe's, expensive if you have to order it online.

Overall, I am glad that I purchased this. I can see myself purchasing it again and I definitely would if they redesigned the bottle so that water can't collect in the cap if you keep it in the shower. I love that it has aloe vera and vitamin E in it, these are wonderful for the skin. Definitely give this a try if your skin is upset with you after all of the Summer-time shaving you have put it through!

Clinique [skin supplies for men] age defense for eyes

After trying Benefit's EyeCon Eye Cream and not being that impressed, I decided to give Clinique's 'age defense for eyes' a chance. Clinique states that this:

Multifunction treatment instantly hydrates the vulnerable eye area. Works to repair the look of lines, wrinkles. Reduces dark circles, puffs, and brightens dull skin for a younger look. Strengthens the moisture barrier for skin that’s smooth, firm.

As of right now, I don't have a problem with fine lines or wrinkles but I do feel that my fair skin show dark circles rather easily. After applying this cream, I find that is soaks in easily and absorbs quickly without leaving behind any greasy feeling. A little goes along way and I know that the $24 tube (which I received as a Christmas present from my sister!) will go a long way. This makes the rather steep price tag a lot easier to handle.

I don't notice a brightening effect like it claims but that wasn't what I was going for anyways. As for dark circles, they don't dissappear but the extra moisturization really helps me to be able to layer concealer on top without it caking throughout the day.

Pros - sinks into skin easily, moisturizes and hydrates well, my dark circles don't disappear but the moisturization seems to help camouflage them (and makes it easier to apply concealer). A little goes a long way - the tube will last a long time.

Cons - expensive, not easily accessible for everyone (can find online, at department stores or Ulta)

I don't care if this is from a men's skincare line. It's more affordable than the women's line and does the job that I need an eye cream to do. I'd definitely recommend this eye cream to someone who is looking to really increase the hydration under their eyes in order to allow concealer to apply more evenly.

Maybelline 'The Falsies Volum'Express Waterproof Mascara - Blackest Black

Honestly, I am not that hard to please when it comes to mascara. If it coats my lashes well, lengthens a fair amount and stays put - I'll generally like it. I saw mixed reviews about the Falsies online when it first came out, but I still wanted to try it. Two words: big mistake.

This is the worst mascara that I have ever tried. It doesn't allow you to layer it and put on multiple coats, it creates spider lashes and it refuses to come off - even with a good oil-based makeup remover. I can use a makeup remover, wash my face and take a shower and this is still clumped onto my lashes. It feel dry and untouchable while wearing it and I don't think it makes me look like I am wearing false lashes in the slightest.

I think there are definitely other mascaras out there that are much more worth the money - Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara comes to mind (love it still!) Don't waste your money on the Falsies and don't accidentally damage your lashes trying your hardest to remove it at the end of the night. I might have had a different experience if I was using the kind that wasn't waterproof but I like a waterproof mascara most of the time (in case I cry or my eyes water, I don't want it all over my face and hands!)

Yes to Carrots Repairing Night Cream [Review]

When Winter comes, I feel the need to reach for a stronger cream or lotion. Since I enjoyed the Yes to Carrots Shampoo and Conditioner so much, I thought I would try out there night cream. This night cream claims to:

promote moisture retention, it softens, smoothes and firms your face, leaving you emanating a gorgeous, soft, healthy glow .

Overall, I am pretty impressed with this night cream. It is very moisturizing, I feel like it plumps up my skin and the scent is great as well. I haven't had any problems with my skin breaking out or anything along those lines. I can tell that this differs from a regular lotion that I would use and falls into the cream category because of the thickness of it. It has a fluffy, whipped texture to it and this feels nice on my skin.

Pros - moisturizing, absorbs well, wonderful scent, non-greasy. Yes to Carrots does not test on animals, which is great as well.

Cons - somewhat odd package design, contains a lot more plastic than it needs to. Therefore, the 1.7 fl oz. that this contains seems like it will last for about a month or so. I was kind of surprised when I opened the lid and I realized the amount that I actually got.

AmorePacific Moisture Bound Refreshing Hydra-Gel [Review]

I got a sample of this from Sephora and I finally tried it out. I have to honest, I don't have much experience with "gel-based" lotions. I guess I always reach for something creamier when I am browsing the shelves. Nonetheless, it was fun to try something different.

Pros - soaked in well, left my skin feeling moisturized but it did not feel like I was wearing anything afterwards.

Cons - Expensive (around $100 for 1.7 oz., depending on where you buy it from) and not easy to acquire (have to go to Sephora, buy online, etc.). I also didn't feel much of a moisturizing difference compared to any other moisturized I am currently using. I think the pricepoint is a big deterrent from keeping me from ever going out and buying this.

Overall, if you just have to have something expensive, then this would be your pick. But honestly, I would much rather buy something more affordable with which I would get more for my money. I definitely think there are other facial moisturizers that do a much better job, that are more readily available to the consumer and that don't gauge the paycheck so bad.

AmorePacific Natural Protection SPF 30/PA+++ [Review]

I got a sample of this from Sephora and I finally got around to trying it out. I really wish this sunscreen wasn't so expensive, it was a dream to wear!

Pros - soaked in quickly, lightweight, non-greasy, doesn't leave a white cast to the face, did not make me break out.

Cons - expensive (approx. $65 depending on where you buy it), only available at certain places (Sephora, online, etc.)

Biore Dual Fusion Moisturizer + SPF 30 {Review}

As you might know by now, I am always on the search for a great sunscreen to use on my face everyday.

I tried Biore Dual Fusion Moisturizer last month and overall, I really liked it. The lotion sank into my skin with ease, it didn't leave a white cast to my face and my skin didn't break out from it. I like the idea of the benefits of a dual lotion and sunscreen dispenser:

Pros - affordable, absorbed easily into the skin, moisturizing, high amount of SPF, did not have a real strong scent, does not leave a white cast to the skin, the dual pump of moisturizer and sunscreen worked well. Sometimes I feel like sunscreens sit on top of my skin but I didn't experience that with this one.

Cons - I wish it came in a larger container, I feel like I ran out of it quickly.

Overall, I think this would be a great moisturizer with sunscreen to use during the Winter months. I think that the moisturizer half worked well and I am glad to see such a high SPF in this lotion, I have found that it is a bit difficult to find a face lotion with an SPF higher than 15. I like the idea of a higher SPF for use on the face.

Smashbox Limitless Eye Liner in Onyx

I think that I've found it. This is the BEST eyeliner that I have ever tried. It is incredibly long lasting, stays put and smudges in just the right way. I have been wearing eyeliner for years and even when I am partially happy, I am always turned off about something when it comes to an eyeliner. A lot of the time, it is too smudgy and doesn't stay where I want it to or it isn't as dark as I want it to be. However, I keep reaching for this Smashbox eyeliner because it has yet to dissapoint me.

Pros - long lasting, rich color payoff, creamy and smudgable but stays put after setting, easy to apply (I don't have to tug on my skin), stays on waterline nicely, a pencil will last you a long time.

Cons - expensive (approx. $19), might be hard to find if you don't have a Sephora or an Ulta near you (order online!), only five shades to choose from.

iVi Scents Soap and Soft Drop Bath Candies {Review}

I ordered from iVi Scents after I read about them on Kandee Johnson's blog. I figured they sounded like a great product to try out. So, I ordered myself three soaps (Birthday Cake, Ozone and Milk & Honey) and a bath bomb (Pillow Fight). My order arrived very quickly and was packaged well.

iVi Scents products contain NO sulfates, parabens, mineral oils, triclosan, GMOs or phthalates AND they are a Cruelty Free company! I think that when a company is able to offer products that are free of harsh chemicals, cruelty free and have something that truly competes with what a person is able to find in a mainstream store - that is a great thing and a company that I would personally love to support.

Pros - soap comes wrapped in adorable zebra print tissue paper, moisturizing, lathers well, soap seems to last a long time (like it won't need to be replenished for awhile), smells accurate, wonderful and delicious (all the soaps do, the scent emanates from the packages and smells lovely)! The Birthday Cake soap is such a treat! Honestly, I think a huge appeal of the soap is that the experience of using it, it makes you feel so good!

Cons - only available online, more expensive than a commercial brand soap (but if the soap lasts longer, you are not replacing it as often).

I would love to see even more scents available. I am impressed with the speed that my order arrived, how wonderful the soaps smell and how I feel once I get out the shower after using them. I think that iVi Scents is a wonderful company to support and I think the products, at lease the ones that I have tried, live up to what they say that they do.

As for the Soft Drop Bath Candies, I ordered Pillow Fight. For a bath bomb, I think it was just OK. It turned the water a murky, cloudy color and it wasn't as scented as I like bath bombs to be. I think the formula needs to be improved upon. It smelt good in the package but it didn't translate to the bath water.

These products, especially the soap, would be great to treat yourself with or to buy for giving to someone else. I think that they would be great for people with sensitive skin and for people that are trying to limit the number of chemicals that they expose themselves to.

Eucerin Everyday Protection Face Lotion, SPF 30 [Review]

I feel like I am a constant search for the best daily facial lotion with sunscreen in it. I have tried a lot of different kinds. Many of them only come with an SPF 15 level so when I saw that Eucerin had SPF 30, I immediately knew that it was my new one to try out. Eucerin Extra Protective Moisture Lotion claims to be many things: good for sensitive skin, offers sun protection, fragrance free, etc. Here is my opinion:

Pros - affordable, lasts a long time (both the amount of product that you purchase and the moisturizing it provides throughout the day), container dispenses a good amount, effectively moisturizes without clogging pores, provides an SPF level you don't find in a lot of face lotions (that are intended for everyday use), fragrance free, felt lightweight and my skin is never irritated by it.

Cons - if you apply it too thickly, it will leave a bit of a white residue, you can feel an almost gritty-like texture if you apply too much and don't rub it in well enough or don't let it soak in.

Overall, I really liked this face lotion. I am a believer in wearing a lotion with SPF on your face everyday (regardless of if you are going to the office, school or elsewhere). I would definitely buy this lotion again (and I probably will at some point) and I think it is incredibly priced and efficient at what it claims to do. Once you learn how much to apply and what works for your skin, I do not think you would have any problems that I listed unders the cons section. I found I encountered these cons the most, when I was in a hurry and haphazardly getting ready or when it was really hot and I already felt like I was melting from the heat outside.

I love that so many product lines are coming out with a variety of products that include sunscreen and protection from the sun. What are your favorite face lotions with SPF? How about other makeup or skincare products?

I picked this shampoo and conditioner up at Target last week and I have been using it all week long. I am in love with it! It just might be my new favorite shampoo and conditioner ever!

I also feel like my scalp feels more refreshed than usual. I feel good when I use this shampoo and conditioner. I know that I am supporting a good cause (by choosing to use something cruelty-free) and I like that I am surrounding myself with less chemicals.

Pros - cruelty free, paraben free, natural, organic products. Cleanses well and rinses clean without leaving behind a residue. Left my hair smooth, soft and moisturized.

Cons - could be difficult to find for some people.

Himalayan Salt Rock Lamps

I got a set of these salt rock lamps for my birthday this year. I would say that, price-wise, your best bet would be to order these salt rock lamps online. I have found that specialty healing shops, etc. seem to overprice them and charge a lot. Clicking the picture above will bring you to a set of two salt rock lamps that are available on Amazon.

If you know me, you know that I really like Himalayan salt rock home decor, whether it be lamps, candle holders, solid plates of it, etc. The warm, rich color that the rock turns when illuminated is beautiful and there are supposed to be a multitude of health benefits associated with these lamps (though as far as I know, this has not been proven). Besides offering a gentle glow to soothe and calm, these lamps are said to emit negative ions, which help with reducing dust, bacteria, pet odor, insomnia, idor, allergies, sinus issues, depression, migraines, anxiety, fatigue, colds, ADHD, and asthma [source].

These lamps are one of my most favorite things I have ever received. I love the soft glow, the fact that they are a conversation piece in my home and office (I have one at home and one at work on my desk), the fact that no two are the same and just the way I feel when I look at them. I definitely think I will have these lamps for many years to come.

'Redken Color Extend Shampoo & Conditioner' Review

I got this shampoo when I dyed my hair dark brown (with some blue and a few highlights), a few months ago. I needed something that would help my color to remain vibrant (for a reasonable period of time - it always fades over time) and I also wanted to maintain as much moisture as I could. The salon I went to used Redken products so I opted to try some of the Color Extend shampoo and conditioner.

Overall, I have to say that I like this Color Extend line from Redken. It smelled light and delightful, cleansed and moisturized my hair and I feel that it made it more manageable while styling it. The shampoo successfully removed any product buildup from my hair and the conditioner replaced any lost moisture and smoothed the cuticle, making it easier to comb through after bathing. I also feel that there was some slight protection from sub damage and fading that can be caused from being outside.

The great thing about these salon products is that you can get value sets a lot of the time. This makes the cost more affordable and you can try it without spending full price, most of the time. Be sure to check places like Ulta, beauty websites or click here to go to Amazon to find specials on this value set from the Redken line.

Village Naturals 'Restless Nights' Foaming Bath Oil

I just got myself this bubble bath a few weeks ago and I am totally in LOVE with it. It foams up incredibly well and the scent is great! It has the essential oils of Lavender, Passion Flower & Chamomile, which I find to be incredibly soothing and relaxing. Just pour a generous amount under running water and it foams up in no time. I also liked that the bubbles lasted a long time, unlike so many other bubble baths that I have tried. When I stepped out of the tub, I felt like my skin was moisturized and my muscles were relaxed.

Additionally, Village Naturals Therapy products are cruelty-free and based out of my home state of Minnesota (specifically Chaska, Minnesota)!

If you like bubble baths, definitely check this product line out. I think it's affordable and does exactly what it claims to. I know that once I am through with this bottle, I will definitely be ordering some more of their products, they offer a variety of "bath therapy" products that I would love to review in the future!

Shower Busters/Shower Steamer Review

I went to Bubbles of Laguna in Laguna Beach, CA this past week and picked myself up something called a Shower Buster or a Shower Steamer (depending on where you look). It's an item that is similar to a bath bomb, only it's meant for the shower. The directions according to Bubbles are:

Place one Shower Steamer on a flat surface in your shower. As it dissolves in the indirect spray, aromatherapy oils mix with the rising steam to provide a true spa experience.

I tried out a grapefruit scented one last night and I have to say that I really liked it. The half sphere shape sits where you put it and lightly bubbles from the steam hitting it. These shower busters/shower steamers are inexpensive and the entire thing didn't dissolve in the shower that I took, so I will be able to use it again! I let a light mist hit it and the whole bathroom filled with the scent of grapefruit. After my shower, I took it out and put it in a dish to dry so that I will be able to continue using it when I want to.

I think that these are great for when you want some "spa therapy" but do not want to take the time to draw a whole bath. I highly recommend them! And if you are ever in Laguna Beach, check out Bubbles of Laguna, they are right on the Pacific Coast Highway as it goes through Laguna Beach.

I cut the poster down and turned it into this! Please excuse the reflection of me in the glass. I have to admit that I saw this poster with this frame on display at Ikea like 6 months ago but I have been dreaming about it since we moved into our apartment. I love the mix of the ornate/feminine frame and the yellow/green tinged flowers. I think together it looks beautiful! This is just the thing I needed to do to add something whimsical to our bedroom entrance area.

'Baronessa Cali' Lotion Recommendation & Review

I got a sample of this lotion at a hotel that I went to with my friends in Hollywood. I have gotten around to using it now and let me tell you, you have to check this lotion out! It might be pricey but with the internet, there are always ways around that! Check eBay or other websites that might be offering it for less.

This lotion moisturizes beautifully, leaving the skin delicately soft. The scent is light and slightly floral/sweet but definitely not like a bouquet. The scent of this lotion is something that keeps me reaching for it. I like when things are "scented" without have a particular named scent. I am also impressed with how it sinks right into my skin and doesn't leave a layer oil like some lotions I have tried do. I have found that this lotion has really help my cuticles to calm themselves and they have had time to heal while I am using it.

'essence XXXL shine lip gloss' swatch and review

essence is a cosmetics line that I recently saw at Ulta. The products are inexpensive so I thought I would give one of their lipglosses a shot. My first impression is that this company is kind of the like the European Wet N' Wild. Inxpensive cosmetics that a lot of people can try out and see if they like what they have to offer.

This lip gloss is not amazing but it isn't so bad either. It's very sheer, you can see from my swatch above that it doesn't add any color to my lips, I might as well have bought the clear version. The formula feels moisturizing and smooth on my lips, not sticky or tacky. It also has a scent that I can't quite place. It is kind of a fruity scent but has a bit of something else as well. I like it.

Additionally, the brush is unique. It is like a long, thin paddle mixed with the doe foot applicator. I thought that was interesting when I first opened it.

Pros - very inexpensive (approx. $1.99), variety of colors (haven't tried any others to know if they are sheer or not), nice scent, moisturizing, not sticky, no taste.

Cons - not pigmented, comes off after a bit (you will have to reapply often).

This creme shadow is AMAZING! It has taken me some time to get used to creme shadows but once I figured out how they work with my skin and what I can do to make them look good, I love them! This Estee Lauder ShadowCreme seriously will not move after you put it on and let it set. When I was doing the swatches, I went to wash my hands afterwards and the was just going to rub the shadow off and it wouldn't move!

Pros - color true to what you see in container, stays in place after it sets (will not budge, must use cleanser and water to remove), feels good upon application, dries to a nice finish (doesn't stay tacky or anything like some creme shadows do), variety of colors to choose from, easily available, a little goes a long way.

Cons - expensive (approx. $17.50), have to get used to working with a creme eyeshadow.

After a whole day of wear.

Overall, I really recommend Estee Lauder's ShadowCreme. It does everything that I was looking for a creme eyehadow to do and I am very impressed with it.

Has anyone ever tried any other creme shadows that they really liked? I would like some additional recommendations if you have any.

'Fizzy Baker Raspberry Cupcake Bath Bomb' Review

I received this bath bomb as a birthday present and I just got around to trying it out. Overall, the cuteness factor of this bath bomb rules out most of the bad feelings I had towards it. I have never seen another bath bomb like this so it looked very cute in my bathroom!

However, it did not deliver when I put it in my bath last night. I was hoping for a stronger raspberry or cake scent, which it ended up not having. I didn't feel that this bomb softened the water in any way or that it really did anything to change my bath water (like a bath bomb should do whether it be changing it in color, scent, creating bubbles, softening the skin, etc). The top of the cupcake is supposed to be able to be used like soap but it just felt plastic. It didn't feel like soap at all so I couldn't really use it.

So, if you have a friend, significant other, mother, sister, etc. who like cupcakes (as many people do), get this for them. But get it for them with the understanding that it is pretty much for looks and not for what the bath bomb is going to do to enhance the experience of their bathtime.

Palladio cosmetics are something that I recently read about on another beauty blog. So I decided to first try our their tinted lip balm's since they are so highly regarded by other makeup enthusiasts.

Overall, this lip balm is applies very sheer and is comfortable on the lips. It has just a bit of shimmer to it. However, you need to be careful not to apply too much or it will get a bit cakey. The scent is a bit odd but I quickly got used to it. It's an herbal scent that caught me off guard since I wasn't used to it. I think these are great lip balms that offer just a hint of color, feel good on the lips, come in a variety of colors and are affordable.

I am definitely going to try out the Berry or Orange colors next. Check them out and let me know what you think when you do!

I just saw this Glam Goth set at Ulta this weekend and I had to get it. In the Ulta that I go to, it was next to the register, I almost didn't see it when I was there! I really like dark nail polish colors because to me, they can sophisticated yet still edgy in their own various ways. I like a kind of "goth" sophistication without all of the kiddie influence that an alternative style can have.

Here is what the brush looks like. Even though it is stout, I found it pretty easy to use. I like mini nail polish collections because I rarely use an entire bottle of nail polish before it goes bad.

Underground - A dark black with blue shimmer. There are a lot of colors like this so there is nothing special about it but it is a nice color.

Tainted Love - I am reading that many people like this color. It is green with gold glitter, quite lovely. I have also read that it is a near dupe for Sally Hansen's Project Runway so if you missed that or liked that, pick this up. Personally, I have found that that a lot of greens are hard for me to wear, they end up looking too yellow with my skin. So a deep forest green is nice to see.

Black Lace - I think this should have a different name, it doesn't seem to fit this kind of nail polish. A nice deep grey creme, rich and saturated looking. I think I will wear this regularly.

For Bitten - pink/magenta and orange glitter in a black base. I love this color and I think it mixes an edgy/sophisticated color with a touch of fun that isn't too bright or too over the top (for when you want to be more subdued in your "alternativeness." This is my personal favorite color out of this collection.

After Hours - a purple with some shimmer in it. A nice, normal purple that really doesn't have anything too special or unique about it but still a nice purple. I think this purple would be cooler if the purple shimmer didn't match it so much and it sparked more than it does.

Everything from the simplicity of the hotel room they are in, to the way the dress she is wearing singes under the heat of the fire, is a good aesthetic choice. I think it is one of the better music videos I have seen in a long time.

Cons - creases easily, not as deep and pigmented as I would like, large pieces of glitter, fades and gets spotty as the day goes on.

I think this eyeliner/eyeshadow is just OK. I don't hate it but I definitely don't love it. I am going to have a try a variety of ways to keep it from creasing (a normal base just didn't help it enough). I like the idea of this kind of 2-in-1 product that allows me to go from a light to a more intense look. I think that this will definitely be able to be used as a base and then I can layer other items on top of it.

Frenzy is satiny smooth with the faintest touch of peach and tan tone. This color works great all over eye prior to adding contrast colors.

To me, this color is a light pink and is a great neutral, shimmery color. I think this could also be used as a highlighter for the brow or for the inner corner of the eye. I forsee myself using this color a lot in the future, especially on days when I just want a simple/light wash of color.

Lush 13 Soap (Unlucky for Dirt) is an interesting soap. Here is the description from Lush:

Our beautiful rose and oregano soap gets its name from a 1931 Hollywood film about a soap company; the son advertised a soap that didn't exist and demand was so high, the dad had to make it. Sounds like typical LUSH, except for the advertising part. Sue and Dawn from the UK had been asked by nurses for an oregano soap because they'd heard that oregano kills bacteria. This lovely soap has been like gold dust; we adore its translucent loveliness, its herbal scent and its very effective cleansing properties.

Pros - Creates a light lather, very mild scent (not overpowering), chemical free.

Cons - Melts quickly, soap didn't seem to last through too many showers or baths, have to order online if there is not a store near you, expensive.

Overall, I recommend this soap for someone who is sensitive to chemicals or is interested in going green with their bathroom products. I think many products at Lush can be hit or miss but for the most part, this soap is OK. I only wish it didn't melt so quickly so that it would last longer than it did for me.

Redken Real Control Intense Renewal Hair Mask/Conditioner

I bought 'Redken Real Control Intense Renewal' hair mask awhile ago and I have to say, that I really like it. I find that it really helps to moisturize, condition and repair my hair from the coloring that I do to it and also the general dryness that it tends to get over time.

Pros - Moisturizing, smells wonderful (it has that salon product smell, light and clean), creamy, covers and conditions hair well, product lasts a long time even if with regular use, attractive packaging.

Even though this product is somewhat expensive (depending on where you get it from), I think it's an investment. You aren't going to use it everytime you wash your hair and a 8.5 oz. tub with last you a long time.

Cons - Not available everywhere, might be too heavy and moisturizing for very fine hair. I think this hair mask would be best for thick, damaged or frizzy hair. If you do have very fine hair and want to use this hair mask, I would only use a little bit and I would really concentrate it on the ends.

I was really excited about the Revlon nail polish in Minted when I picked it up the other day. However, I don't recommend it. The formula was horrible to work with. It might be better the second time around (I am keeping my fingers crossed) but with this first manicure, it was streaky and thin. Then when you applied more coats, it became thick and hard to evenly apply. I felt like it was a waste of money even if it is drugstore nail polish so that is why I am hoping it will get better, the more I use it.

Anyone have any suggestions for a better nail polish in a mint color?

Homemade Sugar Scrub

I found this simple recipe from a blog on healthy & green living:

1/2 cup sugar
Enough cold-pressed oil (olive, wheat germ, peanut, corn, or sunflower) to dampen the mixture

I wanted a really simple recipe that would allow me to take household ingredients and make my own sugar scrub (which sugar scrubs at the store, in my opinion, are way more expensive most of the time than it should be). You can get really fancy with the recipe, adding in banana, avocado, etc. depending on what type of moisturization you are looking for.

Here's my verdict on this recipe and how I feel it works:

This recipe is so easy and quick to make! I used sugar and vegetable oil since that was all I had. I also mixed a few drops of rose perfume oil in that I just got from Coastal Scents and then I scrubbed away. I felt awesome afterwards. It exfoliated well and left behind a thin layer of oil to protect and moisturize my skin. I didn't feel oily or greasy, just moisturized and refreshed.

I definitely recommend creating this quick scrub at home especially if you are trying to save money or use up some ingredients you have lying around. You can scrub as gently or as hard as you want depending on the kind of exfoliation you are looking for and you can customize the scrub to your liking. I think this is a great homemade option for people who are allergic to certain ingredients and need options that are free of certain chemicals.

PS - If I am going to buy a scrub ever again, I like Bath & Body Works Cucumber Melon Salt Scrub 16 oz. It's my favorite and I like to get it every once in awhile, especially when there is some sort of sale going on.

I picked this lipgloss up a few days ago from my local CVS. I am totally captivated by anything that alludes to vintage ideas of beauty and plays up weird color combinations. Pastel colors like these can be both sweet or innocent but I think that they can also be very futuristic feeling and edgy as well.

Overall, I really like it. I wish it was just a bit more opaque but I like the milky pink/lilac that is left on my lips. This gloss isn't too sticky but you can definitely feel it on your lips. I think this is something I am going to often be reaching for in the coming month.

What do you think of the pastel craze that seems to be happening? It's popular for nails, highlights in hair, cosmetics. I am loving every aspect of it, especially when it is used to create an edgy/statement look. I hope that this trend lasts for a little while.

I bought this polish after I saw it on Scrangie's blog. It's awesome. It looks weird in the bottle, like a milky peach color but when you apply it, it's sheer and flickers/flashes blue in certain lights. If it is not catching light, it looks like a kind of warm, sheer peach. I think it's a flattering color that isn't accurate when looking at the color in the bottle. I bet this would also look awesome layered over other polishes, too.

I had a friend borrow me this book a couple of months ago and I finally got around to taking a really good look at it last weekend. I have to say that I am totally impressed.

Foremost, I thought that this book was beautifully put together. The collection of pictures of cosmetics, products, clothing and starlets of the various decades was in itself enough to keep me flipping through the pages. Personally, I find it intriguing to see how products and package design have changed over time (for various reasons including materials availability, aesthetic evolution, etc.) I also like to see what women were considered the icons of the decades, I think that it can give insight into beauty standards and societal influences on what is or is not considered beautiful.

I also thought that this book was easy to read from both front to back but you could also pick it up and look at a particular decade with ease. It was so interesting to read about various cosmetics that were used in the past (that weren't necessarily the greatest for peoples' health) and it was enlightening to see how cosmetics trends have changed over time. This book also delved into fashion and how clothing styles have changed and evolved with each decade. The explanations of each decade were thorough without going too

technical, so it was still entertaining. I wouldn't say that this book is full of humor but it has a light-hearted but still educational feel that was really nice to experience. It might sound weird but I felt good after I read this book.

Pros - insightful, interesting and thought provoking. A fairly thorough look at both cosmetic and fashion trends over the past hundred years, without becoming too much to take in and process. Full of pictures that illustrate various points beautifully. A great coffee table book that is sure to spark conversation.

Cons - Expensive!!!! You have to work hard to find an affordable copy of this book - scour eBay and used bookstores!

But, I do enjoy a good moisturizer that has sunscreen in it that makes me feel good when I put it on in the morning as opposed to greasy, icky sunscreens that make me feel bad all day. So I will review this cream from that mindset.

Pros - smells great (soft, delicate and slightly floral), makes my skin feel soft and smooth after it soaks in a bit, SPF 15 (sunscreen is a must everyday!), a little goes a long way (but don't skimp on sunscreen, you could even mix a bit of this with an alternate sunscreen if you wanted), great for preventative skin care.

Cons - Expensive ($80 for 1.7 oz. at Sephora - see if you can get a sample before you buy!)

Overall, I love this cream. It feels great and I look forward to using it more!

These glosses come in easy to use, portable squeeze tubes and that's really nice and all but I am really not liking the consistency of these glosses. I find both of them to be tacky, sticky and grainy feeling on my lips. Both of them leave my lips shiny (as Lancome claims for them to do) but I always want to wipe these off after I put them on. I find these glosses to have a slightly sweet scent but hardly any taste.

Pros - Portable, convenient to carry, give shine to the lips, have a slight shimmer which can be nice.

Cons - Sticky, tacky and grainy feeling; sheer color (don't reach for these if you want intense pigmentation), expensive ($18 at Sephora).

In my opinion, definitely seek out another kind of lip gloss. And for that matter, what are your favorite lip glosses? I would love to hear some suggestions.

I have been using Lancome Le Stylo Waterproof - Long Lasting Eyeliner off and on for the past few weeks. It's not a bad eyeliner but it definitely isn't great either, it doesn't do what it claims. I find it to be smudgy and it doesn't last all day. The color is nice and bold when you first apply it but I find it fades to more of a gray/black after a few hours. Personally, I like waterproof eyeliners that are an inky, deep black and do not budge for the entire day!

Pros - Eyeliner/smudger in one, self sharpening, attractive casing with caps for the eyeliner and smudger part.

Cons - Expensive ($24.50 at Sephora - look for better deals!), smudges easily throughout the day, not a true black after a few hours, fades from the lids even with a primer on.

Overall, save your money any don't splurge on this eyeliner. There are way better options out there.

I think that cream blushes are great and overall, I pretty impressed with this one. It blends nicely and lasts all throughout the day. I swatched this so you can see both the color and then how it blends (which I blended it out above the swatch of color).

If you are a big blush fan (which I am sometimes), definitely check Clinique's version out. It's portable, applies easily and easy to use. I am going to check out their Glow Blush next, I think.

'MAC Green Gel Cleanser' Review

I have been using this cleanser for the past couple of weeks and I have to say, it's one MAC product I don't think I will be buying again. I think that the foaminess of it is OK but I don't think that it cleans my skin as well as other face washes that I have tried. I would take my Basis Cleaner Clean Face Wash over this any day. This MAC face wash just doesn't live up to everything that I expect from MAC (and I love their facewipes, more on that later!)

I will definitely use the rest of this face wash as I haven't had any adverse effects occur from it just doesn't seem to do everything that it claims to. I definitely don't have a 'skin tingling' experience when I use it.

Pros - light scent, rinses clean, a little goes a long way, attractive packaging.

Cons - Expensive ($19.50), doesn't leave my skin feeling as deeply cleaned as other face washes, doesn't remove waterproof makeup (you definitely need a makeup remover to remove your makeup before using this).

I think that the Saint and Sinner lipsticks are pretty fantastic! Each one can be worn to match a different mood. They are a splurge but not much more so than a MAC lipstick so if you are really into lipstick, definitely check Lipstick Queen out!

I really like the idea of this lipstick but I think the formula needs to be worked out on this one some more. It feels dry and almost waxy on the lips and it doesn't apply smoothly or evenly. I think the idea for a 'wearable' black is fantastic but this a Lipstick Queen item I would skip until they adjust the formula of the lipstick.

I am definitely going to try mixing this with other lipsticks to see if it helps change or add dimension in order to make a color different.

I bought this lipliner as kind of a tester product to see how I felt about Lipstick Queen. I wanted a lipliner that would help my red lipstick to stay in place throughout the day without having it bleed into everything around my mouth (as red or dark lipsticks tend to do). I would swatch this but obviously, there is nothing to see, it applies clear and smooth. I feel that it evens out the feel of my lips and allows my lipstick to apply evenly.

I think this lipliner helps my lipstick bleed less but I definitely do not think that it completely stops my lipstick from bleeding. If it did completely stop the bleeding of lipstick, it would totally be the perfect lipliner.

The application of these shadows is great, they are smooth feeling, apply evenly, have good pigmentation and are reasonably priced. You can get these shadows on the Nyx Cosmetics website, Cherry Culture (watch for sales/specials!) and a multitude of other websites.

Personally, I didn't like these shadows on my skintone but I think that they would work well for other people.

I wanted to try this mascara after I saw Xsparkage talk about it in one of her videos on how to appear more awake and alert (even if you are not feeling that way). According to Sephora, this mascara can be described as follows:

          What it is:
          A rich, plum mascara that intensifies eye color.

What it does:
Benefit's BADgal Plum highlights your natural eye color while adding length and volume to lashes. Wear it alone to warm up your lashes or add Plum over the original BADgal Black for an extra pop.

I really don't think this mascara is worth $19. I don't think it makes the whites of my eyes appear any more vibrant than an inky, black mascara would nor does it make my iris appear any different than a normal mascara would. I think that if you really want to make yours eyes pop, reach for a complimenting eyeshadow or interesting eyeliner rather than this Benefit BADgal Plum Mascara. I have not tried any other colored mascaras so I don't know any ones that would work better.

Pros - I cannot think of any pros for this mascara, it is not worth spending the money on it in my opinion.

Cons - Expensive, does not do what it claims to, does not whiten or brighten the eyes more than a black/brown or blue mascara would, does not lengthen or add volume, etc. Kind of just sits on the lashes.

I don't recommend this mascara. Spend your money on another product, it will be much more worth it. I am all about trying new mascaras and trying to find the perfect one for your particular lash situation but this one totally does not do it for me.

I know that colored mascaras are starting to pop up a little more as time passes (I just saw that Avon is doing them now - which I would be interested in trying) and I want to know: Have you tried any colored mascaras? What is your opinion on these? I want to like colored mascaras but I have yet to come across any that I have heard truly do what they are supposed to and look good at the same time.

Satin Pillow Case {Burgundy} Review

I have read a lot about how sleeping on a satin (or silk) pillow case is supposed to make your hair more manageable and less unruly in the morning so I decided to order one off of Amazon. I decided on this one since it was reasonably priced and I was able to choose from a multitude of colors.

The pillow case arrived quickly and was packaged well (almost too well, I don't think a pillow case needs to be sent in a huge box with a bunch of large bubble padding, an envelope would do me just as well). It fits a standard size, foam pillow perfectly (you can get them in king size as well) and zips close so that you don't have to feel the foam, the pillow is all covered by pillow case material.

Overall, I don't know if I really see a difference when I wake up in the morning. Supposedly, sleeping on a satin or silk pillow case allows the hair to slide across it rather than snag in it like it would with a cotton pillow case. I have also read that is is less drying to hair than a cotton pillow case. I have to say, my hair does not look any better in the morning. It is still frizzy, sticking up funny and poofy. It definitely does not help me to have better waves in the morning over a regular cotton pillow case.

But, this pillow case does make me feel fancy and I enjoy sleeping on it, which I think everyone needs these little things that they can look foward to. I think I will enjoy it even more when the weather is really warm here, I think it will feel less damp than cotton can gets since it absorbs humidity. The fact that you can get them in a lot of different colors is great for different personalities and different decorating sitations. Check it out if this is something you are interested in!

Bonnie Blue/Turquoise Flower Ring {Morado Shop} Pictures & Review

I have been meaning to do this review for forever, like literally three months or so! I ordered this flower ring from Morado when I saw it on a few people and I really liked it. Kandee Johnson talked about it on one of her blogs awhile ago and I really like her style so I thought I would check this Etsy store out.

Purva, the owner of Morado, was quick to answer any questions I had in the process of ordering and communicated well during and after the transaction. The ring came in the mail quickly and I was impressed when I opened the box, it was packaged securely, came in it's own mesh bag and cute/springy tissue paper. The flower itself is on an adjustable ring which is nice so that you don't have to play the guessing game with sizing.

The flower is large and has a good weight to it but it is by no means too heavy. It is handmade so it has some slight imperfections but I think that that adds character and individuality to each ring that she makes. The dimensions of the flower range from 1 inch to 1.5 inches. Because the ring is made out of clay, it does feel a bit fragile as opposed to how a plastic ring would feel but I think that this kind of clay ring looks more sophisticated and more thought about than a plastic/inexpensive ring looks. I think that this ring makes me feel more lady-like and gentle when I wear it and I like that feeling sometimes.

Overall, I think that this is a great accessory for the upcoming Spring season but it can also add a pop of color to an outfit during the Winter or any other time as well. The rings come in a great variety colors and patterns (and she has a bunch of other items too!), they are affordable ($15-$20), shipping is reasonable and you support a person who seems very passionate about what they do! I highly recommend Morado, I know I definitely have my eye on a few more things that I would like to pick up from her in the near future!

Caudalie Tinted Moisturizer [Fair Skin] Swatch and Review

I got a sample of Caudalie Tinted Moisturizer [for Fair Skin] back at Sephora a few weeks ago. I have been hesitant to try it out since I am not really a tanning kind of girl but I definitely wanted to be able to let you guys know what I think about this product.

Caudalie describes this lotion as follows:

This silky fluid enhances, evens and brightens the complexion for an immediate, natural "healthy glow". Highly concentrated in plant ingredients, it moisturizes and protects the youth of the skin.

How to use:
For those with dry skin, apply the Tinted Moisturizer over day cream each morning; for those with normal to combination skin, apply each morning.

I always wear a moisturizer with sunscreen in it so I applied this tinted moisturizer over my sunscreen after it soaked in a bit.

Pros - Applies evenly, looks natural and light (not cakey), soaks in well (make sure to give any other moisturizer time to soak in), gives a sun-kissed look which is perfect for a beachy/glowy look, lightly scented.

Cons - Might be too "tan" for very fair skinned people, might be streaky if layered over a heavy cream base, watch for baby hairs that it might stick to (don't apply near the eyebrows, it becomes very obvious you are wearing it).

Overall, I definitely recommend this product for people that like to tan or look tan. It's moisturizing, light and felt good when I was wearing it. I wasn't able to find this exact product on the Sephora website but you could order it from Caudalie, the prices are in Euro's but I am sure they ship to the U.S. or elsewhere.

'Victoria's Secret Berry Kiss Flexible Hold Hair Spray' Review

I saw this new hair spray at Victoria's Secret recently and I just had to pick it up. I love hair products that leave your hair subtly scented so that you can notice it throughout the day.

Victoria's Secret describes Secret Garden Collection Berry Kiss Flexible Hold Hair Spray as follows:

Give hair flexible hold without build-up. Lightweight, non-sticky formula, with nourishing ingredients from a Secret Garden like fortifying Provitamin B5, leaves hair soft, shiny, and luxuriously scented with a delicate blend of Wild Raspberry, Rose and Praline.

Pros - lovely/light scent, choice of 4 different scents (common ones from the Secret Garden collection), medium hold, normal size bottle, nice package design (glowy gold bottle), subtle scent lasts for quite awhile.

Cons - aerosol can (not everyone likes these, always remember to recycle!), very light sheen left by the product (not as shiny as the description gives).

I bought the Sephora Lipservice Deluxe Sampler over the holiday break for myself. I think this set is hit or miss on most of the shades. Swatches first:

0.12 oz Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Crystal (Clear)

0.086 oz NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Roman Holiday (vibrant pink sheen, frosty looking)

0.8 oz Tarte Vitamin Infused Lipstick in Hatha (shimmering berry rose)

0.14 oz CARGO Plantlove Botanical Lipstick in Muir Woods (sheer spiced mauve)

0.04 oz Laura Mercier Lip Coulour-Crème in Pink Champagne (cool rose)

As you can see, most of the shades of lipstick are nude and neutral colored. I think that these colors are nice but I wish there could have been more variety in a kit like this. I liked the deeper reds and more vibrant colors a lot more than I liked the neutral colors. I felt that not only was the application better on the deeper colors but that they were also more moisturizing, lasted longer, etc.

The two lipsticks that I am least impressed with are the CARGO one and the NARS lip pencil. The CARGO lipstick feels really dry on my lips and is hard to apply. The NARS lip pencil applies very lightly and with a frosty finish. I want it to be more true to color than the light, frosty look that happens when I put it on my lips.

Mainly, I bought this kit for the DuWop 'Private Red' lipstick sample. One tube of that lipstick costs nearly as much as this whole sampler set cost me! So, it was great to be able to try it. Overall, I am impressed with DuWop and their lipstick. It applies a rich, deep red to my lips and I feel it works well with my skintone. I am not sure if I believe it changes color depending on your own chemistry but everyone can believe what they want to. I have yet to determine if I would ever by the full-size version of this.

Overall, definitely get this kit if you want to try a variety of brands and are a wearer of neutral colors (with some space for some pops of red every now and then). It is definitely worth the money and you get some full-sized and some deluxe-sized samples of products. I know it sells out fast so if you are even thinking about it, definitely go for it when you see it!

Heavenly Hostess: Serve with Grace {Review}

Heavenly Hostess is a cute little website that I saw advertised recently in a local Orange County magazine. I had just moved into a new apartment so my mind had been swirling with ideas of things for the home. I haven't bought anything from this site (yet) but I am in love with the how they take practical items and make them so that they can be for an individual who wants to stand out.

Kitchen accessories are one thing that I think can use some pizazz and I think that Heavenly Hostess does it well. A modern twist on vintage-style items and the use of unique fabrics really appeals to me. Even though the cocktail aprons are expensive ($125), I still think they are nice and I can keep dreaming about them. Afterall, you can't find an item like this in a regular store and it would definitely be worth the money for the effort that went into making it. Speciality shops do carry their items but I haven't ventured out to any to check them out yet.

I think that out of everything I have looked at, I am eyeing this little apron the most. It's flashy but still darling and I just might be able to pair it with something else and it wouldn't even look like an apron!

Overall, I am loving this site and the items that are made. They look well made, with love and heart put into them. They also occasionally do trunk shows and other appearances around Southern California so maybe I will be able to check them out in "real life" in the near future.

Davies Gate 'Quince Lotion' Review

First post of 2010! I promise to be back on track with my reviews, sharing and swatches as soon as I can!

I got a sample of Davies Gate 'Quince Lotion' at a hotel that I stayed at a few weeks ago. I am totally in love with the simplicity of the package design and the description of this lotion. Davies Gate (http://www.daviesgate.com/) describes this lotion as:

A healing corrective that nourishes even the driest skin. Distilled essences from a late summer harvest of Quince, Melon and Berries are uplifting, light and fragrant. This perfectly balanced formula has a high concentrate of squalane, nature’s moisturizer derived olives and extremely compatible with your skin. Olive and sesame seed oils deeply moisturize while Vitamin E and Aloe Vera soothe.

I love it, is it light and soft on my hands. The scent is not overpowering and it moisturizes well while sinking into the skin quickly. I would highly recommend this lotion for anyone who wants a daytime lotion where you don't need to sit and wait for it to absorb into your skin.

Pros - light, absorbs quickly, softly fragranced, good for daily/routine moisturization

Cons - expensive ($18 on the Davies Gate website), doesn't seem to be sold in stores, not a cream so probably wouldn't work too well on extremely dry skin

What's your favorite lotion for routine/daily moisturization, especially of the hands? I work with a lot of documents so I am always reaching for some lotion through the day and I am curious to hear what works for others.

Urban Decay 'Fbomb' Swatch and Review

This is what Urban Decay's 'Fbomb' nail polish looks like on me. I apologize for the wear on the edges, I have been wearing this color for a few days now (and it's lasting nicely!) As you can see, it is a bold yet soft, fairly retro looking red. It is not a deep red (like a lot of blood reds that you are seeing nowadays) and it is not a full on, fire engine red either. I think that it falls somewhere in between and is a nice red to reach for when you want a red that is not the normal orange red that you would most often see.

The application was smooth and I think that this polish (along with all of Urban Decay's polishes) last for a good amount of time. I don't have any complaints, I definitely think that there polishes are a good investment!

Eyeko Magic Mascara Review

I received Eyeko Magic Mascara not too long ago and let me tell you, I LOVE IT! It lengthens, goes on nice and inky (just the way I like it) and easily gets every lash. I highly recommend it! The casing is super cute and I love the way it looks on my bathroom counter. Honestly, there really are not any real cons to this mascara, I really like it! Eyeko has yet to dissapoint me!

Pros - lengthening, applies nice and black, large amount (will last a long time), large wand but you can get to every lash with it, attractive case/packaging.

Cons - you get a lot of mascara in this tube, could be hard to use it all before you need to throw it out and get another one. Remember to replace you mascara often!

Urban Decay 'White Widow' Nail Polish Swatch & Review

This is Urban Decay's new polish, 'White Widow.' I think that the color of this polish is really hard to accurately capture. It's like a white creme/slight shimmer with a touch of purple and a touch of mushroom/brown color. In a dimly lit place, I really pick up a slight purple color when I look at it.

I like it and I don't like it at the same time. This was three coats and I have to say out of all the Urban Decay polishes I have tried so far, I am most dissappointed with this one. It applied with streaks and was hard to control. I don't think this color works too well on my skintone so I don't think I will be reaching for it in the future.

What do you think? Have you tried this polish or any of the other ones Urban Decay has recently released yet?

Lime Crime Lipsticks, 'D'Lilac' & 'My Beautiful Rocket' Swatches & Review

I got my package of two lipsticks that I ordered from Lime Crime Makeup yesterday! I preordered these and they arrived just in time to be used for Halloween and also for all of the upcoming festivities that I have!

As you can see the packing is super cute, holographic unicorns on each tube of lipstick make for a 'gleeful' time when re-applying. Doe Deere is a strong believer that when you apply lipstick, it should be an artful process, not something that should be done hidden in the depths of a bathroom. I definitely would not be ashamed to take of this lipstick and apply it in front of everyone, what a conversation starter it would be!

Above: This is what D'Lilac looks like on my lips. I have really been in love with lilac colors as of late, I think it exudes a sort of Cyberpunk sort of look and I am really smitten with this lipstick. In fact, I am wearing it today to work! I love the way it mutes out the natural color of lips and really speaks for itself!

Above: This is what My Beautiful Rocket looks like on my lips. A beautiful, pure orange without any red undertones. Exactly what I have been looking for in an orange lipstick!

I would definitely recommend applying these lipsticks with a lipbrush for precise application or I would advise applying slowly to make sure you get a nice crisp line (especially on the lower lip).

Pros - a multitude of colors you won't find any where else, lasts on the lips for quite awhile before reapplying is needed, fast shipping/packaged well, pure glee every time you put it on!

Cons - kind of expensive ($16 for one lipstick), a bit dry when you first put it on (I would apply a bit of chapstick/Carmex to prep the lips before applying), bright colors make for a statement so try to apply it as best as you can (watch for messiness!).

Overall, I have to say that I am in love with Lime Crime Makeup and what Doe Deere has to offer. She gives you a multitude of colors (both with these new lipsticks and the existing eyeshadows that are sold) that you cannot find anywhere else. I am impressed with Doe Deere's ability to be both inspiring as well as a teacher through her work with her cosmetics line and I am sure she will continue to revolutionize what it means to wear makeup and how you make a statement with it! If anything, I would buy one color just to be part of the experience! I am sure at some point in the future, I will be buying myself another color from the site!

When I first tried this moisturizer, I didn't like it that much. I think I had an initial reaction when I applied it and it made my skin feel dry in the morning when I woke up. However, a few weeks later, I tried it again and now I have been applying it every night with out any problems.

This lotion is rich and creamy feeling, a little goes a long way. I don't have any wrinkles really (yet!) but I want to protect and help my skin repair itself after being in the California sun every day. Basically, I am using this as a preventative measure so I apply it to my face and neck at night. When I wake up in the morning, I just splash my face with water and use a warm washcloth against it and I feel good as new.

Pros - A little goes a long way, a bottle will last a long time, moisturizes well, feels good on the skin, light scent (no strong perfume smell), I think it could be used in any climate.

Cons - expensive (around $42 depending on where you get it).

Urban Decay - 'Grunge' Nail Polish Swatch & Review

Here is what Urban Decay's nail polish, 'Grunge,' looks like. It is one of the nail polishes featured in the Apocalyptic Nail Kit.

It's a deep blue, almost black in color. Not quite navy, not metallic but it still holds some of these qualities. The shimmer that it has is very slight and doesn't feel rough to the touch like some shimmers can. This polish applied easily, dried quickly (I have a coat of Seche Vite as a topcoat). I am in love with the little bottles because I never use an entire bottle of nail polish and I think I might actually be able to do that with these.

I really like it but I am fond of dark nail polishes and a lot of the colors in this Apocalyptic Nail Kit are dark, bold or vampy in some way.

Sally Hansen 'Nail Art Pen' Review

I had been wanting to get a few of these pens for a quite awhile and I finally picked myself up two of them a few weeks ago. I got the white one and the black one as it seemed like they would be the two that I would most likely want to put designs on with.

Overall, I am not that impressed with them. They are easy to use but require several coats for it to be opaque and not see through, I wish they applied thicker like normal nail polish. And if you don't put a top coat on right away (and apply it nice and thick), they wash off!

I feel like it's kind of like using Crayola markers or something to draw on your nails, just doesn't apply how I would like it to. I would rather use a skinny tipped brush like the L.A. Colors Art Deco nail polish. I have liked the results I have seen with that brand and I will have to try it sometime.

Pros - Easy to use (holds just like a pen), variety of colors, endless possibilities for designs. Check out this advertisement, for ideas!

Cons - Washes off if you miss any part of the top coat (which is good if you get some on your skin), hard to use with a non-dominant hand, have to apply several coats (i.e., you want to do a french manicure, apply white to the tips several times to make it white enough), kind of pricey (around $7 for one pen - watch for coupons you could use if you want to pick some up!)

Also, I don't know about other locations but in Southern California, these are constantly sold out at all the stores, the only colors that are ever left are ones like light pink or navy blue. Have you found this to be the same for you? What do you think of these nail pens?

I think that Clinique's 'Lash Doubling Mascara,' is an incredibly great mascara. I got a sample size of it a little while ago in one of those gift with purchase specials at Nordstrom's.

The first time I tried it, I didn't think much of it. In fact, I thought it flaked all over my cheeks as the day wore on. But it must have been the eyeshadow or something that I was wearing because I have been reaching for this every day now for about the past two weeks and I love it! I literally have no complaints about it.

Pros - Lengthens, deep/inky black, separates each lash, can apply multiple coats, lasts all day, easy to wash off and remove with a normal makeup remover, doesn't make my lashes feel dry or brittle, affordable ($14 at Macy's), the wand allows you to maneuver it with ease to reach all the lashes you want to coat with the mascara.

Cons - I can't think of one, I really am impressed with this formula.

"Phisoderm 'Deep Cleaning Cream Cleanser' for Normal to Dry Skin" Review

I got 'Phisoderm Deep Cleaning Cream Cleanser' after my Basis Cleaner Clean Face Wash ran out. I figured I might as well try something new/different and let everyone know what I think about it. I was intrigued by the idea of a cream cleanser since with Fall arriving and the weather turning a bit cooler, my skin has been really dry and tight feeling.

According to Phisoderm, this cream cleanser:

Thoroughly removes dirt, oil and makeup without drying the skin. Vitamin E helps moisturize, while natural aloe and chamomile soothe and soften skin.
Is pH Balanced
Is for normal to dry skin
Dermatologist recommended
Alcohol free
Soap free
Aloe and chamomile to help nourish the skin

Pros - Removes makeup thoroughly, leaves skin feeling soft and not tight, lightly moisturizing, affordable, rinses fairly clean, bottle will last a long time, sturdy bottle, pump top allows for ease and control of how much product comes out.

Cons - Doesn't entirely remove waterproof cosmetics, I wish the cap/pump was a different color, smells a bit perfumey (might not be good for people with sensitive skin).

Phisoderm has a bunch of different cleansers that can be chosen based on whatever skin type you have. I think overall, this isn't that bad of a cleanser. I would like to check out their moisturizing products and see how I like those as well.

Lime Crime 'Enchant' & 'Fairy Wings' Swatches & Review

Here are swatches of Lime Crime Magic Dusts, 'Enchant' and 'Fairy Dust.'

These are swatched over Too Faced Shadow Insurance.

Pros - You can see that 'Enchant' is a kind of grayish, dusky green color, it's good for a smoky eye look that is slightly out of the ordinary. I especially like it applied wet.

'Fairy Wings' was really hard to photograph (I apologize), it has sparks of violet and looks beautiful layered over another color (like layered over black). Since I think it's more appropriate as a layering color or a sheer wash on it's own, I would never apply it wet but I thought you guys might like to see that. I also like to use it as a highlight to my brow and cheekbone.

These shadows last a long time (product & wear-wise) so they are well worth the investment and would be especially for colors that you can't find anywhere else!

Cons - The one thing I do not like about these shadows is the container, they spill easily and do not seal tightly, causing me to get violet sparkles all over my bathroom, makeup case, etc. I find it annoying and I am tempted to transfer them into better containers.

I am definitely going to check out more Lime Crime shadows in the future, Doe Deere just revamped the website and they are now offering double the amount of product for the same price! I am for sure going to get some of the brighter pigments in the future.

Urban Decay - 'Meltdown' Nail Polish Swatch & Review

Here is what Urban's Decay new nail polish, 'Meltdown,' looks like. It is one of the nail polishes featured in the Apocalyptic Nail Kit. I think it photographs on the blue side but trust me, this is a purple nail polish.

I am in love with this bold, vibrant purple. It has an almost metallic finish to it that I feel is very modern, chic and edgy. I can't wait to continue trying the other colors I have received and I will be sure to share them with you all! I don't think there are any cons with this polish. It applied easily, dried fast, was true to color, etc. I think it is all around excellent.

'Neutrogena Clean Replenishing Shampoo' Review

I was looking for a shampoo that I could alternate with this more creamy, rich Japanese shampoo I am using. The Japanese shampoo has a tendency to leave a lot of residue after a couple of uses and I needed to switch it up. I thought about buying a more expensive brand (after the recommendation from some fellow makeup/product lovers on http://www.specktra.net/) but I decided to get something more affordable.

Low and behold, Neutrogena Clean Replenishing Shampoo.

I love this shampoo. It has a clean, subtle scent which I look forward to and does an excellent job of getting hairspray, etc. out of my hair. I also enjoy the package design, it's kind of minimalistic and sharp looking. I love a clear bottle that shows you how much shampoo you have left. I think I will definitely be buying more of this in the future.
Pros - rinses clean, smells light and wonderful, modern/clean package design, affordable, don't need a lot of product to get it to foam and clean your hair, moisturizing.
Cons - I got this at Target and I wish there was a conditioner to coincide with it, my Target doesn't offer it but I am sure other places do.

'Starz Inside: Fantastic Flesh (The Art of Make-Up EFX)' Review

I just watched 'Starz Inside: Fantastic Flesh (The Art of Make-Up EFX),' which is a movie on Netflix through their Instant Watch feature. Overall, I was really impressed with it. The documentary had a lot of emphasis placed on horror movies (which aren't my favorite) but there was also the inclusion of other films that have used a lot of special makeup effects. Films such as: The Chronicles of Narnia, Planet of the Apes, Total Recall (love this one!), Kill Bill, etc.

I also liked this movie because even though there was a lot of discussion about the director of a movie, the artistic vision, intended style, etc. there was a lot of focus on key individuals who have revolutionized makeup artistry and changed the way that people have done special effects. I like that this documentary gave these individuals for the inventive and imaginative work that they have done. I was really touched by the beliefs and practices of people like Dick Smith (The Exorcist & Amadeus), who has exemplified to other artists over the years, his willingness to pass on what he knows about the industry and what tricks will gain what effect.

If you have an hour or so, definitely check out this movie, I think it's enlightening, takes you behind the scenes, shows you how a few tricky things have been done and reminds of you of movies that have altered the way that people see things and what can become of a movie.

"Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. II" Swatches & Review

I just got the new 'Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. II' eyeshadow palette in the mail yesterday. I couldn't wait to share it with you all! It is available on Urban Decay's website right now as well as other sites like Sephora.

All swatches seen below are over 'Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner,' which I received a sample tube of at Sephora! (See product info on Sephora).

As you can see, these eyeshadows are pigmented and lovely as usual. The ones with asterisks next to them are new shades that are currently only available in this palette. The colors range from subdued to sparkly and bold. I think this is an excellent palette that can suit both day and nighttime wear.

Here are swatches of what each of the eyeliner's look like that come with this palette. I swatched them both with and without primer, just as an experiment. I actually think they are just a tad more vibrant without primer and I like them better that way.

You can see in this picture that this palette has a pull out drawer which reveals the eyeshadows, eyeliners and makeup primer. There is also a mirror which stays shut with a hidden magnetic closure and a little book of 'inspiration' is hidden beneath the two doors with the peacock feather print on them. I personally don't think the mirror is necessary but I know there are people out there that appreciate that feature.

Pros - affordable (when you do the math, this equals $3/eyeshadow, not even counting the primer & eyeliners), good pigmentation, sturdy construction (I feel like I could carry it around & it wouldn't break), good size pans of eyeshadow, good range of glitter and matte eyeshadows, suitable colors for both day and night, will last a long time.

Cons- the drawer that pulls the eyeshadows out can get annoying and stuck-feeling, I wish it opened like a compact instead.

I really like this palette and I can't wait to show you guys some looks that I do with it! Soon to come!

Coastal Scents 'Fusion' Lip Gloss Swatch and Review

Here is a swatch of 'Fusion' by Coastal Scents, I threw this color in when I ordered the Camo Quad that they just came out with (review here.)

Overall, I really wish this gloss was more pigmented that it is, I have these glosses in a few other colors (Strunt on Nude, Monroe A Go Go, Mega Mauve & Near Peach) and I think that it their only downfall. They are much more sheer that they appear that they would be in the tube. I like that this is 'wearable' but I was keeping my fingers crossed for something that would really pop when I put it on.

Pros - Easy application, small/easy to fit in a pocket, purse or bag, affordable (they lowered the price since they first came out!), variety of pinks, nudes and peaches; not sticky, smooth feeling on the lips.

Cons - Not nearly pigmented enough, especially with the lip trends going on right now, the brush/cap can feel cheap (bristles stick out funny) and the stopper can pop out and get stuck in the cap - resulting in a messy situation. Be careful when you first open to see if you got one that is going to come apart!

Coastal Scents Camo Quad (Concealer) Swatches & Review

This is the new Camo Quad that just came out and is available at Coastal Scents. It is a good size compact, fits in the palm of the hand. Anything to help with dark circles and dullness is something that I am definitely interested in! You can get similar palettes from lines like Ben Nye, Makeup Forever, etc. but this is a more affordable choice for the average buyer.

According to Coastal Scents:

4 primary corrector shades: cream color correctors: Apply to clean and moisturized skin prior to using foundation; can be used on any area of external skin with imperfections.

Mint Green - use to cover rosacea or red skin conditions; mint neutralizes redness; great for broken capillaries around the sides of the nose and cheeks.
Yellow - used to cover and hide black, blue or purple imperfections of the skin such as blemishes.
Lavender - use to even out skin tones such as too much yellow; correcting olive skin/ offers an overall balanced finish and healthy glow.
Sky Blue - counteracts orange tones caused from uneven or too much tanning/self tanners/sun; neutralizes dark circles.

Pros: Nice/buildable coverage, applies smoothly, affordable palette (about $8!), multitude of corrective concealer choices to cover a wide-range of skin issues, good size - will last a long time, foundation applies easily over the top of it, clear lid so you can see what's inside.

Cons: Cream concealer may be too much coverage for those not used to wearing a lot of product on their skin, will take some practice for people not used to using concealers that don't match their skin tone.

Overall, I think this is an excellent correcting/concealer set. It's affordable, a nice size and the coverage is what I have been looking for. I can't wait to reach for this on the mornings when I need that extra help to appear "fresh-faced."

'Too Faced Starry-Eyed Mini Glitter Eyeliner' Swatches & Review

I really like the idea of glittery items like this being sold in smaller containers because I can never use up an entire full size container if I have one. That is why I think this Starry-Eyed Eyeliner set from Too Faced Cosmetics was a wonderful find for me. This was a set that was sold last year around Christmas time, you can still get these colors by themselves in their full-size versions so I figured swatches would be good for all to see!

Colors Include:

Super Freak (hot pink and rainbow glitter)
Ooh & Aah (black and silver glitter)
Stalkerazzi (brown glitter)
Mad Mad Love (light pink glitter)

Overall, I think these are great glitter eyeliners. The brush can be a bit weird on them, it would be nice if it was even thinner for more precise application. The color payoff is fantastic!

Pros - fun, bright colors that can be applied in a subdued manner or with a heavy hand for extra attention, stay on well without flaking, apply easily and smoothly.

Cons - sometimes my eyes are sensitive to these liners and feel a bit dry and itchy there the liner is applied (important note to those with sensitive skin/eyes), can be hard to wash off, sometimes hard to get enough product on the brush due to the shape of the container.

Keep an eye out for this gift set to still be available some places, it's well worth the price and the set was being sold everywhere last year, you never know who might still have a set or two lying around!

Modcloth Octopus Necklace & A StudioHalo 'Heart' Necklace

I wanted to share two of my favorite necklaces (at the moment) with you:

This first one, my octopus necklace, which you can get on Modcloth. I just really love the look of this one. I opted to get the bronze/gold one instead of the silver because I wanted to make sure you could see the contrast of the detail on the tentacles, eyes, etc. and looking at the pictures on the site, it just didn't seem like you really could on the silver one. This necklace has a good weight to it and feels like it will last for awhile. I have gotten a ton of compliments on it and I think it really spices up a look. I highly suggest it!

My second necklace I received as a Christmas present this last year. It's an heart cut out of acrylic and is lasered engraved to show the veins and arteries. I think this is a stunning necklace. It's a fairly large size (approximately 2-1/2" x 3-1/2") so it can really be worn as a 'show piece' that speaks for itself. The color ranges while worn from being a vibrant red to a more dark, subdued red. It's hard to capture on film.

Since this rests against the skin and is large, it can feel kind of warm so I like to wear it in the Winter more than Summer or when it's warm out. Otherwise, it can feel a little uncomfortable rubbing against my skin. Other than that, I think it's a beautiful piece of jewelry!

I haven't been able to find this necklace anywhere online but I think I might have found the Etsy seller that this necklace was bought from. The seller is StudioHalo. It looks like this seller has taken a break but I am sure with enough encouragement from perspective buyers, they would get back into business soon!

Sephora 'Nail Patch' Long Wear Nail Stickers

The color that I chose is #502: Black Strass (available from Sephora, I picked these up in the store - other colors are available online).

Eek! I really don't recommend these nail stickers. They are a pain to put on, even if they do apply quickly. They don't tear off easily at the tips after you stick them on, so you can see that I already having 'chipping' when I haven't even worn these stickers for an hour yet! The stickers also don't fit my nails properly and I don't think I have abnormally tiny fingers/fingernails. If you look at my thumb you can see how ill-fitting they are.

Pros - Nice not to have to wait for polish to dry, I think this Black Strass is a nice, glittery color that isn't too flashy but gives me a little pop in what I have on my nails.

Cons - Poor fit, hard to find ones in the package that fit well, hard to get even two uses out of one package (not cost effective), don't tear off easily which can leave jagged edges at the tips, there aren't many color options both in-store and online.

Overall, I don't think anyone should buy these except for the convenience that they give. If anyone is going to be looking closely at your nails, do not reach for these. They won't give you a clean look unless you happen to be a whiz with them. If they fit better and tore off smoothly at the tips then I would be all for them but until that happens, I think I'll stick with regular bottles of nail polish.

Benefit 'Eyecon' Eye Cream

I started using this eye cream about a month ago. I have been trying to be good about moisturizing my skin regularly and I have started to get an interest in using something other than just a regular moisturizer with SPF (I use Oil of Olay every morning). When I saw that this cream was supposed to help with under eye circles, I was intrigued. I perceive my under eye circles to be worse than they probably are but nonetheless, I still think that under eye circles are something that both men and women deal with. 'If I can use a cream to fade them or at least help them, why not?' I thought.

Well, this cream doesn't do anything it claims, it doesn't fade or make under eye circles appear any different than they normally do. I didn't notice any change other than a nice, moist eye area from putting this cream on every morning and night for the past month.

Pros - moisturizes eye area, absorbs into skin quickly, light feeling, hardly any scent.

Cons - expensive for the amount you get, even if it does last for a long time. Does not fade dark circles, reduce puffiness, etc. I don't think it doesn't anything it claims except moisturize.

See? Hardly any difference. Don't waste your money on this one. It's moisturizing and that's nice but it doesn't do anything to fade dark circles or aid the eye area is any other way. I think if you are looking for a moisturizing eye cream, there are a lot of different and probably better choices. As of right now, I think Benefit should stick with the cosmetics and not go into lotions, creams or other regimens.

Do you have any suggestions for an eye cream? I'd love to hear what you use and love!

Avon 'Planet Spa' Hawaiian Thermal Volcano Warming Face Mask

I am a big fan of face masks and I have to say that this is one of the most interesting face masks that I own.

First off, it's almost like it's not even a face mask, more like a super, creamy face wash that heats when rubbed or in contact with water. This mask doesn't dry like traditional clay or 'gel' masks that you peel or rinse off. It stays more tacky and sticky to the touch but you can feel it opening your pores and working to stimulate the facial skin (or wherever you apply it). It has macadamia nut oil, which leaves my skin feeling moisturized and smooth.

Pros - Warming, feels like it increases circulation, relaxing, nice/soothing scent (not overpowering), washes clean, affordable, one bottle lasts a long time, moisturizing, smoothing.

Cons - Gets really warm when rubbed or when water touches it, could be very shocking or uncomfortable for some. The exfoliating particles might annoy those with sensitive skin, due to the fact that the pores are being opened by the warmth.

In the directions, it says to use this mask once daily but I think that's far too much, once a week would be better.

Overall, I really recommend this to people that like face masks and don't have incredibly sensitive skin (I think the combined heat and exfoliation would be too much for that skin type). I like that it's not a traditional face mask and that it is a twist on what we have come to expect from them.

Avon doesn't send this anymore but you can still get it from people who are selling it on eBay or other sites. Give it a chance!

Eyeko Concealer, Highlighting Pen and Tinted Creme

I figured I would give you my opinion on all three of these products at once, since you can get them in a special value set right now (which means less money!) - it is available here!

Larissa at Eyeko was nice enough to send these products for me to review - thank you very much, Larissa! (I was SO excited to get them, especially the Highlighting pen).

Touch and Glow Highlighter - This is my favorite item out of the three. This easy to use pen can be used with just a few twists and you have all the product that you need and it is ready to go. Just apply it to your brow bone, the inner corners of your eyes, the tops of your cheeks, wherever you want their to be a glint of shimmer. I think that this would work on almost all skin tones and would provide the shimmer (or glow) you are looking for without being too glittery. I cannot think of any cons with this product, I think it is well worth the money and "cute" to boot! I already find myself reaching for it every morning!

Touch and Go Concealer - I'm really disappointed that Eyeko doesn't offer this concealer in a variety of shades. Having a generic skin tone color does not work for a majority of people. For me, this concealer is too dark/too yellow and doesn't do anything to offset the bluish undereye circles that I try to cover. On top of being too dark, I don't think it offers enough coverage as a concealer. I think it's more like a tinting that occurs rather than giving coverage.

I would not buy this, it's not worth the money, and I don't think the majority of people would find it useful to conceal undereye circles or anything needing 'heavy' coverage. The pros of this product would be that it is cute, portable and isn't at all messy when you are using it. Overall, If you're lucky enough to have a medium skin tone, with yellow undertones, then give this a try, it might work for you.

Eyeko Tinted Cream - Bronzing or tinting cream is not something I would normally buy. I don't tan (I wear sunscreen all the time) and personally, it's not the aesthetic that I am normally wanting for myself. Nonetheless, I do admire a sun kissed glow on other people and for that I think this cream is great. As you can see in the picture below, it's a dark, golden, copper color. I feel that when used sparingly (very sparingly), it does give off an excellent, youthful "glow" that so many people are after.

I also love that this cream is infused with jojoba oil and infused with vitamins. I feel that if you want a sun kissed look, it is much better to go after it through creams and tints like this rather than going to the tanning booth or sitting outside. It's so important to protect yourself from the sun!

Overall, this cream is an excellent value, the container is fairly large, with a screw-on lid, which allows you to bring it with you without worrying about it spilling or exploding all over your bag. Definitely order it if you like a tanned/bronzed look and want to nourish your skin at the same time!

I got my order from Tairrie B. of Blasphemous Girl Designs in the mail a few days ago. Check out her store here!

Let me just start off by saying, 'yes! This is exactly what I have been waiting for!' From the moment I removed the envelope from my mailbox, I was in surrounded with the smell of the perfume that only Tairrie B. can create. I kept smelling the envelope all day long at work, just to make the anticipation of opening it when I got home that much better! I think that the cost of this package is almost worth it for the oil alone (which is notoriously hard to get ahold of, as she makes the vials/sets in limited quantities).

According to the description on her store site, the perfume has a secret recipe which contains the following:

Without giving away my secret I will say it captures the
essence of a sugary french vanilla birthday cake drenched in angel, dipped in
bergamot with a hint of nutmeg, a pinch of amaretto, a side of chocolate covered

Coastal Scents 'Gel Liner' Swatches

Coastal Scents gel liner's, Black and Deep Plum. I love Deep Plum and I don't wear it enough, I think it would be great to try as an eyeshadow base. Both are vibrant and true to color and apply cleanly and smoothly. They are shown here on clean skin, no base. My only complaint is that the black can be somewhat staining to the skin, but you just have to be careful while washing to make sure to thoroughly remove everything.

I highly recommend these liners! They are affordable, a lot comes in the container and they last forever both in application and wear! Coastal Scents offers a wonderful selection of colors, many of which I still want to get!

Agent Provocateur: A Celebration of Femininity by Joseph Corre & Serena Rees

I have a different edition of this book but I can't seem to find a picture of it right now. If you are into depictions of female sexuality through clothing (or the lack thereof), I think this is an intensely inspirational book. The collection of photographs that it holds is fantastic. Bright, bold, colorful, professional photographs, both of people you may know and people you may not. All laced throughout some interesting text discussing various facets of lingerie fashion, women's sexuality, etc.

I truly love that it portrays women are both "socially/traditionally" beautiful as well other portrayals of women. Not everyone is stick thin in this book and that is refreshing, considering we normally never see that in the average lingerie catalogue,etc. I like looking at the lingerie, the hairstyling and cosmetic looks used in the styled shoots, it's all there

I don't own anything by Agent Provocateur but I love looking at their lingerie, I think they have fun with it and anyone who is into lingerie gets what they are doing. The price ranges for the line might be geared more towards the "rich and famous" but I think anyone can walk away from looking at their inspirational photographs, window displays, etc. and feel fulfilled on some level of enjoyment.

I'm not saying that everyone should go out and spend hundreds of dollars on lingerie that they can't afford. I am saying that it doesn't hurt to do some "window shopping" online and daydream about what you would get if you could. And if you can get your hands on a used copy of Agent Provocateur: A Celebration of Femininity, I say go ahead and get it. It's fun to look through and get inspired by.

Avon 'Moisture Effective Eye Makeup Remover Lotion' Review

Avon's eye makeup remover is an excellent and affordable solution to removing stubborn cosmetics. I am thoroughly impressed with it's ability to remove waterproof mascara and eyeliner (cosmetics that I wear often).

All you need if a little bit dabbed onto a cottonball and it's able to remove everything that a normal facewash might not be able to. A second swipe over the eyes with a clean cottonball will remove anything that the product soaked one might have left behind.

Pros - effective, affordable (about $4 - watch for sales, I think I picked mine up for like 99 cents), only need a small amount of product, clean/fresh smelling, lightweight feel on the skin (feels like lotion), it isn't oily like some makeup removers, bottle lasts forever!

Cons - Leaves a very light residue (which I just remove with a splash of water at the end of my routine), other than that, the only thing I can think of is that it is inconvenient to have to pay shipping on items like this (makes them more expensive than they should be), so get on Avon's email list - they are always sending out free shippng codes, deals, etc.

'Eyeko Face Off Wipes' Review

Eyeko Face Off Wipes were on of the first things that caught my eye when I went to Eyeko's website. I was intrigued by the immensely 'cute' packaging and the idea of being able to tote around a little makeup wipe that not only works well but is not something your 'ashamed' to pull from your makeup bag.

*Pros - Attractive packaging, extremely portable, affordable (8 US dollars or £5 for twenty wipes), removes foundation and powdered makeup easily, brings to mind the idea that there can be a certain aesthetic in what you surround yourself with (I think it can really affect your mood).

*Cons - It would be nice if they were more moist, I found they lost the wetness they have sort of quickly, which makes it hard to remove eyeliner, mascara, etc. Also, the portable packaging is nice but bad for the environment. I think it would be even better if the packaging was "green" and biodegradable.

Overall, I think these wipes are great for a person who doesn't wear too much heavy or waterproof eyeliner, mascara, etc. I wear those cosmetics everyday, so these are something I probably won't be buying again. I also won't be using them up too quickly due to their extreme cuteness so I will be able to show them off for some time to come!

According to the latest catalogue from Sephora, the fall beauty trends are:

The Cat Eye - I love this, classic and looks fantastic on everyone!
Candy Colors - LOVE this trend that is happening right now! Check out Limecrime Makeup, for some seriously intense colors that I am sure you will fall in love with! (Review to be up in the near future). Also, check out Shrinkle (see picture above - that's her!) and you will be sure to be impressed with some hardcore inspirational looks!
Extreme Smoky Eye - I've always loved this! And I don't think people should only wear it at night, I think that wearing a smoky eye during the day is like your own little, secret confidence booster!
Gray Eyes - As in gray eyeshadow all around the eye - romantic and sweet, I love this as well.

Bold Brows - I've yet to pull this one off that well, I have light/thin brows and it's hard to get out of my comfort zone with that. I enjoy darkening them but making them appear larger or bushier brings me to a level of nervousness and insecurity. I DO love them on other people though (i.e., Kat Von D).
Big Hair - Maybe because I was born in the 80's, I have an innate sense that this is such a great look for women or men (with the right haircut of course). The higher the hair, the closer to God? Nonetheless, I love it, give me teased, back-combed hair (done with a a touch of classiness and intent to make it look good). It is wonderful that we are going to get to see it all around us!
Dark Lips - Love, love, love them! Bold, vampy, and altogether sultry. I think a dark lip can ooze confidence and sex appeal. I think it shows the rest of the world you are comfortable in who you are. And I definitely don't think it needs to be reserved just for that Friday-night-out.

Kat Von D Eyeshadow 'True Romance' Palette - Ludwig Swatches

Overall, I like the feel of these shadows. They are smooth, apply with vibrancy and last throughout the day (especially with a primer for the lids).

I think that this palette in particular is great for those who don't feel comfortable wearing really bright or 'loud' shadows, i.e. to work. I also think that is a great palette for those days when I want to reach for a champagne like color to pair with a cat eye for a pin-up look. 'Clay' and 'Downtown' really work for me when I want a nude/champagne color. They aren't too yellow like I sometimes find some "nude" eyeshadows appear on my skin, which makes me look sallow rather than sultry. That's not what I want!

I also really want to check out her new perfumes that she has (Saint & Sinner). I forgot to check them out the last time I was at Sephora, I will have to be sure to tell you all what I think of them.

Eyeko 'Vamp Polish' Review

A beautiful deep blue-black nail polish.

This is the second Eyeko nail polish that I have. The application on this polish is much better than the application was for 'Pretty Polish,' which you can read about below. As you can see, it is a rich, deep blue-black creme color. This is two coats with Seche Vite as a topcoat. Drying time was normal and this photo was taken after a day of wear.

*Pros - rich, creamy color. Average drying time and wear seems good for this polish. Super cute bottle, one I wouldn't be ashamed to display!

*Cons - Be careful with these bottles, they have a wide mouth to them and it would be easy to seal the lid shut if you get to much polish on the rim. Check before you screw on the lid.

Eyeko 'Pretty Polish' Review

Eyeko 'Pretty Polish' is a soft pink pastel color. I think that the color is super cute but the application was horrible. I had read that this would probably happen (on Scangie). But I thought, maybe, just maybe it would be different for me. Love the color, HATE the application, drying time and way that it dents easily for hours after applying it.

*Pros - lovely, feminine creme color. Perfect for people that are into light, non-threatening colors. Also has the cutest bottle design! Be sure to check them out!

*Cons - sheer, streaky application, this is with five coats - that's too many for the kind of lady that I am. This color takes forever to dry and it dented easily for be for about a whole day after I first applied it. It never seemed to completely dry.

I am going to review the other polish that I got, 'Vamp Polish,' tomorrow. I am hoping I will like it better because Eyeko seems to have some super cute things. They also offer free shipping on all orders which I think is fantastic!
